Westside High School, hosting a student body of over 1,200, proudly stands as the largest high school in Bibb County. The construction site of the Westside Performing Arts Center strategically occupies the southeast corner of the existing school, nestled between the student parking area and the school itself, adjacent to the bustling “bus-lane.” Beyond the impressive physical structure created by our team, we take great pride in the innovative Site Logistics and Safety Plan meticulously developed and executed for this dynamic school campus.

Approaching the school, one is greeted by a welcoming decorative plaza, presenting a sweeping facade of architectural beauty. The facade boasts a gracefully curved masonry structure adorned with an array of textures and colors. This design marvel incorporates large, glazed curtainwall systems, masonry pilasters, a radiused metal awning system with a distinctive curved entablature, all elegantly finished with stucco.

Stepping inside the facility, the curved vestibules, featuring coffered ceilings and patterned flooring, guide visitors seamlessly toward the 744+ seat theater segment of the building. The theater itself is equipped with sloped floors, 120′ clear-span ceilings, curved stages, and cutting-edge audio/visual systems, including a comprehensive “truss-mounted” theater lighting system.

Beneath the technological sophistication and the allure of beautifully decorated spaces, lies a structural system meticulously designed to provide the Bibb County School District with a low-maintenance, enduring facility. The structural system comprises concrete foundation walls, shallow foundations, loading docks, a structural steel superstructure, and a combination of load-bearing masonry and cold-formed metal framing.

In terms of building systems, the facility includes Packaged Units with Air Purification Systems, DDC Controls, and Auxiliary Systems. Communication infrastructure is robust, covering IT Cabinets, Fiber Optic Cabling, Integrated Security Systems, Access Control, Fire Detection, and a comprehensive array of other components, ensuring a technologically advanced and secure environment.
